Customer Management

View your customer list, order history, subscription status, and manage your newsletter.

Your customer list is one of your most valuable business assets. Picket keeps it automatically updated as orders come in, and gives you tools to understand your customers and communicate with them.

The Customer List

Go to Customers in the admin sidebar. You’ll see every customer who has placed an order or signed up for your newsletter.

Each row shows:

  • Name and email address
  • Number of orders placed
  • Total amount spent
  • Date of last order
  • Subscription status (active or not)
  • Newsletter opt-in status

Filtering:

  • Has active subscription — See only customers with active subscriptions
  • Newsletter subscriber — See only customers who opted into your email list
  • Search — Find a customer by name or email

Customer Profiles

Click any customer to open their profile. Here you’ll find:

Contact Information

Name, email, phone number, and any saved addresses. You can edit this information if a customer contacts you with a correction.

Order History

A complete list of every order this customer has placed — date, items, total, and status. Click any order to jump to its detail.

Active Subscriptions

If the customer has any active subscriptions, they appear here with plan name, billing frequency, next billing date, and delivery method.

Newsletter Status

Whether they’re subscribed to your email list, and when they subscribed.

Notes

Add private notes about this customer that only you can see. Useful for:

  • Allergy information (“No lilies — allergy”)
  • Delivery preferences (“Leave at back door”)
  • Personal details (“Mentioned they’re starting a cutting garden”)

Notes are never shared with the customer.

House Account Credit

If a customer has a credit on their account (e.g., from a refund issued as store credit rather than back to card), it appears here and can be applied to future orders.

Newsletter Management

Picket has a built-in email subscriber list. Customers can opt in:

  • At checkout, by checking the “Subscribe to our newsletter” box
  • Via a Newsletter Signup block on any of your storefront pages

Viewing Subscribers

In the customer list, filter by Newsletter subscriber to see your full list.

Exporting Your List

Click Export at the top of the customer list to download a CSV file with all customer data. This is useful for:

  • Importing into Mailchimp, Klaviyo, or other email marketing platforms
  • Backing up your customer data
  • Analyzing your customer base in Excel or Google Sheets

Your email list is yours. Picket doesn’t prevent export or lock you in.

Why Your Customer List Matters

For a small farm business, your customer list is genuinely irreplaceable. Here’s why it matters more than your social media following:

You own it. Instagram can change its algorithm, limit your reach, or disappear. Your email list is yours.

It converts. An email to your existing customers about a new product or promotion will convert at 5–10x the rate of a social media post.

It compounds. Every customer you add to the list is a relationship that grows over time. A customer who buys once and gets nurtured via email might become a 5-year subscriber.

Nurture it. Send a monthly or seasonal email even when you have nothing to sell. Share what’s blooming, what you’re planting, what the season looks like. Customers who feel connected to your farm are your most loyal buyers.

Data Privacy

Picket stores customer data securely. If a customer requests that you delete their data (their right under various privacy laws), contact Picket support for assistance processing the request.
