Building Pages
Use the drag-and-drop page builder to create your homepage, about page, and more.
Your storefront isn’t just a product catalog — it’s a place to tell your story, show off your farm, and give customers a reason to trust you before they buy. The Picket page builder lets you create rich, beautiful pages without writing a single line of code.
Navigating to Pages
In the admin sidebar, click Pages. You’ll see a list of your current pages (Picket creates a default homepage for you). Click New Page to create a page from scratch, or Edit on an existing page to start customizing.
The Block Editor
When you open a page to edit it, you’ll see the block editor — a drag-and-drop canvas where you add, arrange, and customize content.
Think of a page as a stack of blocks, each representing a different type of content. You drag blocks into place and click to edit their content.
Adding a Block
Click the + button (shown between existing blocks or at the bottom of the page) to add a new block. A panel appears showing all available block types. Click one to add it.
Rearranging Blocks
Grab the drag handle (the six-dot icon on the left side of any block) and drag it up or down to reorder.
Editing a Block
Click on any block to select it. An editing panel appears on the right side of the screen where you can change text, images, links, and other settings specific to that block type.
Available Block Types
Content Blocks
- Hero — A full-width banner with a heading, subheading, call-to-action button, and background image. Usually the first block on your homepage.
- Text — Rich text: headings, paragraphs, bold, italic, lists, and links. Great for your about section or any descriptive content.
- Image — A single image with an optional caption. Good for breaking up text or showcasing your farm.
- Image Gallery — A responsive grid of multiple photos. Great for showing off your flowers, products, or farm scenes.
- Video — Embed a YouTube or Vimeo video by pasting the URL.
Product Blocks
- Featured Products — Automatically pulls products from your catalog and displays them with “Add to Cart” buttons. Great on your homepage to drive immediate sales.
- Categories Grid — Shows your product categories as visual cards with photos.
Marketing Blocks
- Testimonials — Display customer quotes in a card layout. There’s nothing more convincing to a new customer than hearing from someone who’s already bought from you.
- CTA (Call to Action) — A prominent button section with a heading and text, designed to get customers to take action.
- Newsletter Signup — A simple email capture form. Subscribers go into your customer newsletter list.
Utility Blocks
- Contact Form — A name/email/message form. Submissions are emailed to your contact address and appear in the Form Submissions section of your admin.
- FAQ — An accordion-style list of questions and answers. Good for addressing common questions before customers have to ask.
- Spacer / Divider — Layout helpers for adding breathing room or visual separation between sections.
Section Layouts
Some pages look great when blocks sit side by side rather than stacked. You can configure a section layout that places two or three blocks in columns:
- 50/50 — Two equal columns (great for image + text combinations)
- 33/67 or 67/33 — One narrow column and one wide column
- Three columns — Three equal-width content areas
Click the Layout icon in the section header to change the column arrangement.
Saving and Publishing
- Save Draft — Saves your work without making changes visible to customers.
- Publish — Makes the page live on your storefront immediately.
You can always unpublish a page (toggle it back to Draft) if you need to make more changes before it goes back live.
Setting Your Homepage
By default, Picket shows a standard shop page at your root URL. To make one of your custom pages the homepage:
- Go to Settings > Design.
- Under Homepage, select your page from the dropdown.
- Click Save.
Tips for a Great Storefront
Start simple. A strong homepage doesn’t need 15 blocks. Try: Hero → Featured Products → Brief About text → Testimonials → Contact Form. That’s it. Clean and effective.
Use your own photos. Stock photos feel generic. Even an imperfect photo of your actual farm or products builds more trust than a polished image that isn’t yours.
Tell your story. Why do you grow flowers? What makes your farm different? Customers at small farms aren’t just buying a product — they’re buying a connection to you. Give them something to connect to.
