Changing Your Plan

How to upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your Picket plan. Billing cycle and proration explained.

You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your Picket plan at any time from the Billing settings page.

Where to Manage Your Plan

Go to Settings > Billing. You’ll see:

  • Your current plan and billing status
  • Next billing date and amount
  • Usage summary (how much of each limit you’re using)
  • Invoice history

Upgrading Your Plan

  1. Go to Settings > Billing.
  2. Click Upgrade Plan (or Change Plan).
  3. Select the plan you want.
  4. Enter your payment method if you haven’t already (credit or debit card).
  5. Confirm the upgrade.

Upgrades take effect immediately. You’ll have access to the new limits and features right away.

Proration: If you upgrade mid-billing-cycle, your first charge is prorated. For example, if you upgrade to Standard ($49/month) 15 days into your billing cycle, you’ll be charged approximately $24.50 for the remaining 15 days, then $49/month on each future renewal date.

Downgrading Your Plan

  1. Go to Settings > Billing.
  2. Click Change Plan.
  3. Select the lower tier.
  4. Confirm.

Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep your current plan’s benefits until then, and the lower plan kicks in at your next renewal date.

What about limits? If you downgrade and your current data exceeds the new plan’s limits (e.g., you have 25 products on Standard but are downgrading to Free with a 15-product limit), your existing data is preserved. You just won’t be able to create new items above the limit until you’re back under it.

Cancelling Your Subscription

  1. Go to Settings > Billing.
  2. Click Cancel Plan or Cancel Subscription.
  3. Choose whether to cancel immediately or at the end of the current period.
  4. Confirm.

What happens when you cancel:

  • Your plan ends (at the current period end or immediately, per your choice).
  • Your store remains active on the Free plan — you don’t lose your store, your customers, your orders, or your products.
  • The 2% service fee applies to all future orders on the Free plan.
  • You can upgrade again at any time.

Picket doesn’t lock you in. Your data belongs to you.

Updating Your Payment Method

Go to Settings > Billing > Payment Method and click Update Card. This opens the secure Stripe payment form to enter a new credit or debit card.

If your payment fails (expired card, insufficient funds, etc.), Picket sends you an email and shows a banner in your admin. You have a grace period to update your payment method before any limitations apply.

Billing History and Invoices

Under Settings > Billing > Invoice History, you’ll see every charge with the date, amount, and a downloadable PDF invoice. Use these for bookkeeping and tax records.

Common Questions

Does my plan renewal date change if I upgrade? No — your renewal date stays the same regardless of when you upgrade. You’re just paying a prorated amount for the upgrade.

Can I switch between Standard and Pro without losing data? Yes — all your products, orders, and customers are preserved regardless of which plan you’re on.

What if I want to pause my store for the off-season? You can downgrade to Free during your off-season to avoid the monthly subscription cost. Your data stays intact, and you can upgrade again when the season starts.
